John and the Team at Insulation Scotland (Edinburgh) Limited were fantastic. Thorough but quick survey and consultation followed by a quotation that arrived when promised and at a competitive price. We chose them because of John's friendly demeanor. A team of 3 blitzed a reasonably big job in less than a day. Some of the walls in attic got their first insulation (you can see in the before and after images) and the flooring was re-laid and added to in some places, and completely replaced in others. All waste was bagged up and taken away. Everything was wiped down, hoovered and generally spick and span. We couldn't be happier, and would confidently recommend John and his team.Posted on Trustindex![]()

Edit 3/3/26: the owner came back to me eventually and said he would pay for the damage. Once I sent the invoice of the plumber he promptly paid. All solved. Great communication. They sent someone in the morning to quote for a loft insulation job. Told him to be careful in the attic as we have the water heating manifold with pipes. Did the survei in 20 minutes. Come the evening the boiler had lost pressure, low and behold he had knocked a pipe from the manifold and it is actively leaking. Will not return my calls.Posted on Trustindex![]()

Fantastic experience all round. John was very kind and friendly. Communication was prompt and easy. He explained how to apply for a grant from the govt. When it didnt work out for us he even kindly gave us a huge discount! Work was done very quick (approx an hour for us) and cleaned up after themselves leaving the house spotless. This was a completely stress free experience. We definitely recommend insulation scotia !Posted on Trustindex![]()

Insulation Scotland installed loft insulation for us, everything was done as promised, bills seem to have dropped and our house feels warmer, very happy
There are several different Government and local authority funded grants available for commercial premises run by small businesses in Scotland during 2026.
This blog will breakdown some of the different schemes available, with information on which type of organisation qualifies, how to apply and amount of funding your business can expect to receive.
Insulation Scotland Ltd can currently install grants awarded for floor insulation, loft and cold roof insulation, which covers areas such as roof eaves or the eaves under the sloping part of your roof in the walls if your loft is converted.
Grants and loans are available for up to £100,000 via Business Energy Scotland, who provide the most widely available funding for small business in Scotland.
As well as more information on the grants available, we have showcased some of our installation work specifically for churches, local community halls, small sports and social clubs in different parts of the country.

St John’s Colinton Mains Church located in Oxgangs, Edinburgh is currently undergoing a large renovation. Insulation Scotland Ltd fitted loft and floor insulation in early 2026, with the industry standard of 300mm of loft insulation and 150mm of underfloor insulation with a breathable floor membrane being installed.
www.stjohnscolintonmains.co.uk
Installation was completed during the renovation, whilst the church was a building site, with all works being completed safely and to client specifications.
The loft insulation aspect of the install involved working at height, which required assistance from local rope access company MK Access.
Below are some images of the completed job.
Another commercial loft insulation installation for St Nicholas Church in Uphall, West Lothian. Again this was completed in early 2026, to help make the building more energy efficient and retain more heat.
This installation had to be completed carefully as working at height, with difficult access to all of the loft above.
The standard 2 layers of 150mm of mineral wool was installed, with goal of helping increase heat retention by up to 15%, due to the height of the roof and number of large windows.
See our gallery of installation pictures below.

Large loft insulation install just before Christmas 2024 for Crail Community Partnership see their website www.crailcommunitypartnership.org.
This local community run organisation needed to improve their energy efficiency and heat retention for the facility that is commonly used by locals for a wide range of events.
The installation had some challenges due to several existing water tanks in parts of the loft and extended slopes on each side.
Insulation Scotland Ltd used particular techniques to ensure all sloped areas were properly and safely insulated with 200mm of premium eco-friendly mineral wool for maximum heat retention.
See our gallery of pictures below showcasing another successful installation.
If you are small to medium enterprise (SME) who is considering installing insulation that is classed as “eligible equipment” you can qualify for a cashback grant up to £30,000.
*Your business can claim 75% of any costs for energy efficiency measures of up to £20,000.
* 75% of costs towards any renewable heating products such as air source heat pumps, biomass boilers and solar up to £10,000.
Various insulation measures including loft, underfloor, cavity wall, internal wall and external wall insulation are covered as energy efficiency measures.
Which measure(s) you qualify for is based on what is more of a priority, which is determined after you make your application and a site survey is completed.

For community organisations who are not-for-profit the CARES community building fund is specifically in place to help reduce your energy costs whilst reducing carbon emissions.
This includes community organisations, charities and faith groups such as:
*Churches and places of worship.
*Local community centres and halls.
*Public halls and community hubs.
*Local sports and social clubs.
There are however some limitations to the CARES scheme grants, as they are often only available if you invest in solar panels and / or an air source heat pump which is not always feasible or affordable for not-for-profit organisations.

Certain local council authorities in Scotland provide grants for small businesses looking to make energy efficiency improvements.
These grants differ in various factors including the amount of funding available, criteria to qualify and which types of energy saving products they are available for.
Almost every if not all local councils who offer funding provide grants for small businesses looking to upgrade their insulation.
Here are some examples and more information from some local councils such as:
*Falkirk Council Energy Efficiency Fund.
*Glasgow Council Green Business Grant.
*Stirling Council Premises Improvement Grant.
Insulation is a fundamental element of commercial building design and operation in Scotland, where the climate is generally cool, wet, and windy throughout much of the year. Effective insulation helps commercial properties maintain comfortable indoor temperatures, reduce energy consumption, lower operating costs, and comply with increasingly stringent energy-efficiency regulations.
In Scotland, commercial buildings must meet the energy performance requirements set out in Section 6 (Energy) of the Scottish Building Standards, which are designed to reduce carbon emissions and improve the overall efficiency of both new and existing buildings. Insulation works by slowing the transfer of heat through the building envelope, including walls, roofs, floors, windows, and service penetrations. By reducing heat loss during colder months and limiting unwanted heat gain during warmer periods, insulation contributes significantly to lower heating and cooling demands. This is particularly important in Scotland, where heating represents a substantial proportion of a commercial building’s energy use.
Common insulation materials used in Scottish commercial construction include mineral wool, glass wool, rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) boards, expanded polystyrene (EPS), extruded polystyrene (XPS), phenolic foam, and spray polyurethane foam. Mineral wool is widely valued for its thermal performance, fire resistance, and acoustic properties, making it suitable for offices, schools, healthcare facilities, and industrial buildings. Rigid insulation boards are often used in roofs, external wall systems, and floor constructions because they provide high thermal performance with relatively thin profiles. In addition to thermal efficiency, insulation in commercial buildings must address moisture management, as Scotland’s high rainfall and humidity levels can create condensation risks if building elements are not properly designed. Insulation systems are therefore commonly combined with vapour control layers, breathable membranes, and effective ventilation strategies to protect building fabric and maintain indoor air quality.
Acoustic insulation is another important consideration, particularly in offices, hotels, educational facilities, and mixed-use developments, where reducing noise transmission can improve productivity, comfort, and occupant wellbeing. Modern commercial insulation solutions are increasingly designed to support sustainability objectives, including reductions in operational carbon emissions and alignment with net-zero targets established by the Scottish Government.
Improved insulation can significantly enhance a building’s Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating, which is an important factor for property owners, investors, and occupiers. Retrofitting insulation into existing commercial buildings is also a growing priority across Scotland, particularly for older properties constructed before modern energy-efficiency standards were introduced.
Insulation Scotland Ltd either directly installs or can provide quotes via our partner installers for every type of insulation measure there is. We strictly don’t use spray foam insulation on domestic properties.
