John and the Team at Insulation Scotland (Edinburgh) Limited were fantastic. Thorough but quick survey and consultation followed by a quotation that arrived when promised and at a competitive price. We chose them because of John's friendly demeanor. A team of 3 blitzed a reasonably big job in less than a day. Some of the walls in attic got their first insulation (you can see in the before and after images) and the flooring was re-laid and added to in some places, and completely replaced in others. All waste was bagged up and taken away. Everything was wiped down, hoovered and generally spick and span. We couldn't be happier, and would confidently recommend John and his team.Posted on Trustindex![]()

Edit 3/3/26: the owner came back to me eventually and said he would pay for the damage. Once I sent the invoice of the plumber he promptly paid. All solved. Great communication. They sent someone in the morning to quote for a loft insulation job. Told him to be careful in the attic as we have the water heating manifold with pipes. Did the survei in 20 minutes. Come the evening the boiler had lost pressure, low and behold he had knocked a pipe from the manifold and it is actively leaking. Will not return my calls.Posted on Trustindex![]()

Fantastic experience all round. John was very kind and friendly. Communication was prompt and easy. He explained how to apply for a grant from the govt. When it didnt work out for us he even kindly gave us a huge discount! Work was done very quick (approx an hour for us) and cleaned up after themselves leaving the house spotless. This was a completely stress free experience. We definitely recommend insulation scotia !Posted on Trustindex![]()

Sheep wool insulation is a natural, sustainable, and eco-friendly premium insulation material made from the wool of sheep. It is used to insulate homes in Scotland, helping to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature by reducing heat loss in the winter and heat gain in the summer.
Sheep’s wool insulation is a premium home insulation product that is especially ideal for homes in Northern Scotland where temperatures are colder, especially during the winter months.
All of the sheeps wool insulation our partner installers install is ThermaFleece sheeps wool, from their wide range of products including CosyWool, CosyWool Slab and UltraWool.
On this page you will find out more about sheeps wool insulation including the different types you can choose from the benefits of each one.
Sheep wool insulation works effectively by utilising the natural properties of sheeps wool fibres to improve your homes temperature, control moisture, providing maximum heat retention. Its ability to manage moisture and maintain insulation performance over time, coupled with its environmental benefits, makes it a highly effective and sustainable choice for home insulation.
Sheeps wool insulation weighs more than other types of home insulation, providing extra thickness and additional layers of insulation, resulting in maximum heat retention. Sheeps wool fibers are naturally crimped, which creates a network of tiny air pockets within the material. These air pockets trap air, which acts as a barrier to heat flow. This trapped air significantly reduces heat transfer, helping to keep buildings warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
Sheep’s wool insulation is easy to install, in most cases you just have to lay on top of the surface you are trying to insulate. There are different methods for installing sheep’s wool insulation depending on which type is being fitted.
Batts and Rolls: Sheep’s wool insulation is typically available in batts or rolls, which can be easily cut to size and fitted between wall studs, rafters, or joists.
Loose-Fill: It can also be installed as loose-fill insulation, which is blown into cavities, making it ideal for retrofitting existing buildings or filling irregular spaces.
Recycled plastic insulation offers numerous benefits, combining environmental sustainability with effective performance. Here are the key benefits of installing recycled plastic insulation:
Reduces Plastic Waste: Made from recycled plastic bottles and other plastic waste, this insulation helps divert plastic from landfills and oceans, contributing to a reduction in environmental pollution.
Promotes Recycling: By using recycled materials, it supports the circular economy and encourages further recycling efforts.
Low Carbon Footprint: The production and processing of recycled plastic insulation generally have a lower carbon footprint compared to some traditional insulation materials.
Energy Efficiency: Recycled plastic insulation provides excellent thermal performance by trapping air within its fibrous structure. This reduces heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer, leading to lower energy bills and improved energy efficiency.
Stable Indoor Temperature: Helps maintain a consistent indoor temperature, enhancing comfort and reducing the reliance on heating and cooling systems.
Noise Reduction: The dense, fibrous structure of recycled plastic insulation absorbs and dampens sound waves, effectively reducing noise transmission between rooms and from external sources. This improves acoustic comfort in buildings.
Hydrophobic Properties: The material is resistant to moisture, which helps prevent issues like mould and mildew growth. This is particularly beneficial in areas with high humidity or where condensation might be a concern.
Non-Irritant: Recycled plastic insulation is generally non-irritant, meaning it does not cause skin irritation or respiratory issues during installation, unlike some traditional insulation materials.
Fire Resistance: Many products are treated with fire retardants to enhance their resistance to fire, improving safety.
Long-Lasting: The insulation is durable and retains its insulating properties over time without degrading or settling, ensuring long-term performance.
Stable Performance: It does not compact or deteriorate easily, maintaining its effectiveness throughout its lifespan.
Various Forms: Available in rolls, batts, or loose-fill forms, it can be used in a wide range of applications, including walls, roofs, floors, and lofts.
Lightweight and Easy to Install: The material is lightweight, making it easier to handle and install. Loose-fill insulation can be blown into cavities, while batts and rolls can be easily cut and fitted.
Non-Toxic: Recycled plastic insulation is typically free from harmful chemicals and does not release volatile organic compounds (VOCs), contributing to better indoor air quality.
Affordable Option: Recycled plastic insulation is often competitively priced, offering a cost effective solution for enhancing building insulation and energy efficiency.
